Overview

The Geo fire and water bowl adds a spillway to Fire by Design's low, wide Geo forms: a round shallow cone and a square bowl with straight flared sides. Water cascades over the rim while the burner works in the same GFRC vessel. Sizes run from 30 to 60 inches across, for pools, spas and other water features.

Every size can be built three ways. Either a stainless steel ring (304 grade) or a brass Pro Series snowflake sits in the pan under glass or lava rock, or a fire on water burner puts the flame on the water itself. Gas is natural gas or propane, and a single fire on water kit covers both. Power can be 24VAC, 30VDC or 120V with any of the three burners, while the battery system and key valve go with the first two. The finish color is chosen from the Geo chart after you order.

Features

A spillway at the rim of the cone

Each size lists a Fire/Water Bowl Spillway Kit. In this photo of the empty round bowl it is the dark lip set into the rim. The kit provides the cascading water effect, and the burner you choose supplies the fire.

A burner that sits under the water

The fire on water burner sits beneath the surface and sends its flame up through the water. At 9 inches across, the center feed is rated 67K BTU and goes in the 31 and 36 inch rounds and the 30 and 36 inch squares. The 42 inch square takes a center feed of 12 inches, rated 91K BTU. The two large rounds use a side feed double ring: 18 inches and 214K BTU on the 48 inch, 30 inches and 357K BTU on the 60 inch. Those two need 1 PSI and 2 PSI of gas pressure, and the rest need 1/2 PSI.

A cone and a flared square

The cone is 31, 36, 48 or 60 inches across and rises 10, 11, 15 or 19 inches. The square comes in 30, 36 and 42 inch sizes, standing 10, 12 and 18 inches high. Weights run from about 85 pounds for the 31 inch round to 320 pounds for the 60 inch round.

Stainless steel rings up to 36 inches

The 304 stainless steel ring is 12 inches (85K BTU) on the 30, 31 and 36 inch sizes, 24 inches (170K BTU) on the 42 inch square, 30 inches (221K BTU) on the 48 inch round and 36 inches (238K BTU) on the 60 inch round. The two largest take a 3/4 inch gas inlet.

Brass snowflake burner

The Pro Series brass snowflake is 11 inches (42K BTU) on the 30, 31 and 36 inch sizes, 18 inches (124K BTU) on the 42 inch square, 25 inches (285K BTU) on the 48 inch round and 32 inches (365K BTU) on the 60 inch round. That 365K BTU figure is the highest output on this page.

Ignition for water and weather

With the fire on water burner, ignition is a SUBEIS, which Fire by Design built for full-time operation under water, in 24VAC, 30VDC or 120V. The stainless steel and brass burners use the AWEIS in the same three versions, or the battery system or key valve. The AWEIS senses heat rather than flame and relights itself after a gust, typically within 15 seconds.

FAQ

Which sizes can have the fire on water burner?

Every size on this page. It runs from a 9 inch center feed on the smaller bowls to a 30 inch double ring on the 60 inch round, which is rated at 357K BTU.

Do the largest bowls need more gas pressure?

Only the fire on water burner does. It needs at least 1/2 PSI on most sizes, 1 PSI on the 48 inch round and 2 PSI on the 60 inch round, so ask your installer to confirm the supply early.

Do I close the manual shutoff after each use?

Not with the AWEIS. Two electric valves inside it open and close the gas as power comes and goes, and Fire by Design says the manual shutoff only needs closing if you suspect a gas leak. The SUBEIS adds its own built-in safety shutoff.

Who should install it?

A licensed professional should install it, which is how Fire by Design sells these kits. Plumbing codes require a manual shutoff valve on the gas within 6 feet of the bowl, and you can use that valve to lower the flame. Fire by Design also recommends providing drainage for each fire feature.

How is the finish chosen?

Choose it from the Geo chart after you order. We confirm the finish with you before sending the order on to Fire by Design.
