Overview
The Spartan fire and water bowl keeps the flared square GFRC form and adds a spillway kit, so a gas flame and a cascade of water can share one bowl. It is made for pools, spas and other water features, and it arrives as a complete kit.
Sizes are 31, 32, 42 and 48 inches. A 304 stainless steel ring or a Pro Series brass snowflake burner puts the flame in the bowl. The submersible burner, offered on the 31, 42 and 48 inch bowls, puts it on the water itself. Gas is natural or propane, and the finish is chosen from the Spartan chart after you order.

Features
A spillway kit with every bowl
Each Spartan fire and water bowl comes with a spillway kit, so water can pour over the edge of the bowl while the burner runs. On the 31 inch fire on water bowl the kit is a scupper spillway.
Fire on the water
The submersible burner sits beneath the surface, so the flame rises through the water with the burner out of sight. Fire by Design builds its SUBEIS ignition for full-time underwater use, and one kit serves natural gas or propane. On the 42 and 48 inch bowls the burner is an 18 inch double ring fed from the side, rated 214K BTU and listed with a 1 PSI minimum for your installer to check.
The 31 and 32 inch options
The 31 inch and 32 inch options share one bowl: 31 inches across, 24 inches inside and 11 inches high. The 31 inch option is the fire on water version, with a water line height of 8.75 inches and a scupper spillway. The 32 inch option is the one for a fire ring or brass burner.
Fire ring or brass burner
For a flame over lava rock or fire glass, the 304 stainless steel ring comes in 12, 18 and 30 inch sizes at 85K, 162K and 221K BTU. The brass snowflake burner comes in 11, 18 and 25 inch sizes at 42K, 124K and 285K BTU. Both are offered on the 32, 42 and 48 inch bowls.
Ignition made for wet sites
Fire by Design says its AWEIS keeps working in winds above 55 mph, can be submerged without damage and relights itself after a gust. It lists the 30VDC version for pools, with 24VAC and 120V also offered. Fire on water kits use the SUBEIS in place of the AWEIS.
Heights, weights and fill
Heights are 11, 16.25 and 18 inches, and the bowls weigh 150, 300 and 400 pounds with a fire ring or brass burner. Fire ring and brass kits hold 3, 6 or 9 bags of lava rock, or 52, 111 or 159 pounds of fire glass.

FAQ
Can my pool controller switch it?
Fire by Design says most of its installations are switched through an automated pool controller. A relay on the controller feeds the 24 volt transformer that comes with the 24VAC system, and two features that must run independently need a relay each.
Which ignition goes with the fire on water burner?
The SUBEIS, Fire by Design's submersible system, in the 24VAC, 30VDC and 120V forms offered for your size. The battery kit and the match lit key valve go with the fire ring and brass burner kits only.
Does the bowl need drainage?
Yes. Drainage is recommended for every Fire by Design fire feature. The company says its ignition can sit in water without harm, but the bowl and its surroundings still need somewhere for water to go.
Who installs it?
Leave it to a licensed professional, which is how Fire by Design intends these kits to be fitted. Plumbing codes call for a manual gas shutoff within 6 feet of the bowl, and that valve is also how you set the flame height.
How do I choose the finish?
After your order is placed we send the Spartan chart and confirm your color with you before the order is passed to Fire by Design.
Is it natural gas or propane?
Fire ring and brass burner kits are ordered for one gas or the other. A single fire on water kit works with both.
